| Tárcoles A
contact with the most authentic nature. |
| |
The small town of Tarcoles is located in an
enclave of great beauty and biological richness,
in front of the Pacific Ocean, on the Grande
de Tarcoles riverside, and tucked in by the
hills of Carara National Park.
The Tarcoles is a famous River due to the high
rate of crocodiles living in it, approximately
30 per square kilometer, something really extraordinary.
Guacalillo Mangrome (Manglar de Guacalillo)
is located on the river’s mounth. An important
eco system for many animals, more than 200 bird
species stand out, among them the most colorful,
the red limpet.

|
| |
|
You can navigate
this river on a boat; take a close look at the
crocodiles, and visit the mangrove with any of
the companies that offer this kind of trip. |
| |
Carara National
Park is a trunk full of treasures, a real living
laboratory. There are two trail areas to walk;
the path on the north side of the park extends
along the river, where lagoons and marshes are
formed. The south side has paths across hills
and gullies. The park has also stay in Jaco, due
to its proximity.

| Hermosa
Beach National
Wildlife Refuge |
| |
Hermosa Beach,
as its name shows, is a place of great beauty,
which is protected as a National Wild Life Refuge
due to its important biological richness. Its
main character is the Lora Turtle that arrives
to lay its eggs on this beach between August and
December. |
|
|
| |
In contrast with
other beaches where Lora Turtles come in big groups,
here they come individually. We hope you are lucky
enough to watch this incredible marine specie
laying their eggs. There is a program on Hermosa
Beach in charge of study and protect this emblematic
animal.
